Check CPU - Red Hat - how to check if CPU working correctly ?

Hello Gurus,

does any one knows how can I test CPU in Red Hat ? Is there any tools to check if CPU working correctly ?

greetings

What do you mean?

You have top or cat /proc/cpuinfo.
Do you have any issue? or strange behaviour?

Why do you want to check if your CPU is "CPU working correctly"?
Tell us what you want to achieve or what is your issue and we will try to find a solution.

Best regards,
Angel.

I need something like MEMTest but for CPU. Some diagnostic tool for CPU from Red Hat repository. Do you know something like this ?

I've find:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/cpuburn/
and
http://weather.ou.edu/~apw/projects/stress/

But I guess it doesn't do what you expect, although I still didn't get why you want to do this.
Most of the time, if your system become unstable due to the CPU, it's an issue of temperature.

Have fun,
Angel.

This is multiprocessor machine working in cluster. In /var/log/messages I have found this

Code:

kernel: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#15 stuck for 10s!
I would like to analyse this problem (if its possible ofcourse) with some CPU diagnostic tools, but only from RedHat repository. In the cluster node You shouldnt install not certified software. I cant stop this machine because one processor is still productive.

So, does anybody knows CPU diagnostic tool from RedHat ?

Google give me this:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=713687

May be you can add your comment to that bugtrack too.

Found this as well:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...or-10s-648946/

Wait, here the issue seems to be solved although there is no clear explanation why: (but that would remove the Hardware issue)

Is that the only problem symptom you're seeing?

Are you using the SMP kernel? (Run uname -a if do not know.)

I have found the reason. This was problem with Memory. Thanks every one for help and support :)

Ok I thought about this as well as I've seen it in one of the RedHat bugzilla report, but I thought that you checked it already.

Thank you for your feedback,
Have a nice day,
Angel.
