Question centos problems running mysql-community-server missing libmysqlclient

Hi my friends.

I'm running mysql-community-server 5.1, download from mysql dot com.

Is working, the issue is that if I want to install with yum programs to benchmark, reports, etc the issues start:

they search for mysql 5.0

Processing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.15(libmysqlclient_15) for package: php-mysql
--> Processing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.15 for package: php-mysql
--> Processing Dependency: php-pdo for package: php-mysql
--> Running transaction check
---> Package mysql.i386 0:5.0.77-4.el5_5.3 set to be updated
--> Processing Dependency: perl(DBI) for package: mysql
---> Package php-pdo.i386 0:5.1.6-27.el5 set to be updated
--> Running transaction check
---> Package perl-DBI.i386 0:1.611-1.el5.rf set to be updated
--> Processing Conflict: mysql conflicts MySQL
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
mysql-5.0.77-4.el5_5.3.i386 from updates has depsolving problems
--> mysql conflicts with MySQL-server-community
Error: mysql conflicts with MySQL-server-community
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I try to search for libmysqlclient.so.x but doesn't seen to exist in my server.

To install programs for mysql do I have to build from src? or how do u handle this?

Thanks all for your time, running cebtos 5.5 i386.

Hello,

I think the only problem you have is not had installed the package MySQL-shared-5.1.glibc23.i386.rpm. This package contains de libraries that you need.

You can read more in MySQL website.

Regards.

mysql-community-server 5.1, download from mysql dot com.
You will have to remove the alien package.
And then all 'mysql' can be installed with # yum

The "non CentOS package" has conflicts with the CentOS packages.
' mysql-community-server 5.1 ' is simply : 'mysql-server'. ( 5.0.77 )
Please do : # yum search mysql
.. to see all available mysql*
..
If you really want version 5.1, the "Remi repo" can be used
http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterp...ses.group.html
Using : http://www.jasonlitka.com/yum-repository/
..
