CentOS as a server and Desktop


Hi
i have saw this link to make a server : http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-centos-5.2-p2
i have a little question
why didn't he install Desktop-Gnome ???
will it affect the performance?

Because normally servers don't need to have a desktop.

Any unnecessary processes/services added to your server will impact on performance.

Yes. Performance will be better. Your problem with that is...?

In addition, why would you want to go out of your way to install extra bugs on a server? The disadvantages of that seem so apparent that you have to wonder about any other approach.
