CentOS - Adding IP Addresses?

So I've got some extra IP's I'd like to add to my CentOS server.
How would I do so permanently?
I've checked my network file ifcfg-eth0 and inside, the device name is "eth6".
I've tried making eth0:1 eth0:2 etc and do a network restart but the IP's didn't come online.
Any help or suggestions?

/etc/sysconfig/network is where you store the interface configs. Be sure to set them to come up automatically on reboot.

Code:
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=hostname.example.com
GATEWAY=12.345.6.7
That is just an example of what's in my /network file.
What do you mean I should do?
