Cannot send outbound mails Connection timed out (port 25)

Hello Linux Gurus,

I've ben punding myhead on this issue. I've setup a new postifx server on rhel5. After editing the needed entries, i can't seem to send any outbound mails to yahoo or any other domains.

My postconf -n is as follows:

alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
command_directory = /usr/sbin
config_directory = /etc/postfix
daemon_directory = /usr/libexec/postfix
debug_peer_level = 2
home_mailbox = Maildir/
html_directory = no
inet_interfaces = all
mail_owner = postfix
mailq_path = /usr/bin/mailq.postfix
manpage_directory = /usr/share/man
mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost, $mydomain
mydomain = bhog.placard-hewitt.tm
myhostname = smtpbhog.bhog.placard-hewitt.tm
mynetworks = 10.0.0.0/8, 127.0.0.0/8
myorigin = $mydomain
newaliases_path = /usr/bin/newaliases.postfix
queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix
readme_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix-2.3.3/README_FILES
relay_domains = $mydestination
sample_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix-2.3.3/samples
sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail.postfix
setgid_group = postdrop
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name
unknown_local_recipient_reject_code = 550

Error I get connect to domain.com [ip address]: Connection timed out (port 25)

I don't have a FW installed, I have a test MS exchange on the same network and can send out just fine.

Big help please!

Thanks a lot in advance.

When you send a message, you should get various log entries in /var/log/mail.log. Would you please post the output of an attempt to send a message? This might help to better determine what the exact cause of the problem is. Initially I was thinking that port 25 may be blocked, but as pointed out the exchange server can send which says that it is not.

Note, each message will have several log entries associated with it, but you can use the hex string ID to determine which entires belong to a particular message.

Off hand, I suspect the problem *MAY* be the relay domains and I think you may want that to be blank, but the logs will help confirm this.

[solved]

Thanks a lot NoWay2. It seems after doing a lot of test, for some reason it seems that the echange server was allowed on the allowed relay host. We added it and it seems everything is ok.

Thanks a lot!!!
