Can XP user in at as anyone on Samba server?

In Samba, lets say I have two login accounts with passwords. One of the accounts is the exact same account that I use to login to XP (same PW). With this scenario, I can map the drive without any problems what so ever. It doesn't prompt for a login or anything.

Now, lets say that I remove my XP UN/PW from Samba. When I try to map the drive, XP prompts for a UN/PW. I enter the exact UN/PW for the other samba user, but samba complains that the password is incorrect (log files). This setup is over a workgroup if that makes any difference. Here is my smb.conf:

netbios name = MediaMadness
workgroup = MSHOME
security = user
encrypt passwords = yes
wins support = yes

read only = no
browseable = no
path = /home/%U
create mask = 0664
directory mask = 0775

path = /mnt/raid
browseable = yes
public = yes
read only = yes
write list = @datamod, root, linuxuser, XPuser
I would much rather prefer to use a different login name that my existing XP name since the PW with that account is "" (blank) Also, both of the users are Linux users...

What happens when you make it so both samba and your xp accounts have different passwords. Will you be able to log on then? Also if you want a easy free program that basically makes your samba config file for you download webmin. Which is a program on the net that makes it so you can change you linux box from anywhere. If you want it so you can edit your samba file at ease download a add-on to webin which is called swat. Then you are able to do any option to your samba server from this by saying a basic yes or no.

It helps alot
