Can't download via dovecot

I've setup a postfix/dovecot mail server including a proper SSL. I've setup the account within gmail and it authenticates properly.

From within gmail I can send FROM server address TO gmail address and receive properly.

If I send FROM gmail TO server address I receive the email on the server end, but any updates on the gmail end find no server emails.

I'm stumped and google hasn't been helpful with this weird issue.

This sentence is not clear unfortunately.

LQ forum users wil be able to help you if you can provide a detailed descrpition of the issue with exact configurations you used in gmail so that we could visualize your situation.

I've followed the Ubuntu postfix/dovecot (Maildir) setup verbatim:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Dovecot

What I was trying to express is that postfix is working since I can send via Gmail through my server address. However when I try to retrieve mail from my server address via Gmail no emails are found. However when I check locally on the server the emails are there. I was noting the SSL setup worked since Gmail now has strict SSL enforcement for third party addresses.

I'm new to this whole process so from what I gather I think this means my postfix is working and my dovecot is setup incorrectly. I don't want to post the whole conf, so if there's a problematic section I should post please let me know.

Well I'm a big dumb animal. Turns out everything was correct, Gmail just outsmarted me and doesn't retrieve emails it originated. I received an email from another user without issue. I then checked with another account and it worked perfectly.
