can't display server name when nslookup is issued
I have configured a dns server on redhat linux and it is working quite ok, but the problem is that when i issue nslookup it is not giving me the server name instead it is giving an ip address of the server.
The output is like this Server: 192.168.0.2 Address: 192.168.0.2#53 Name: group3.edu Address: 192.168.0.2 |
pls. try dig ip_address and dig server_name and post
|
..can you post exactly what command you typed, and what you expected to get back?
|
group3: in the example you listed, it says the name of the server is: Name: group3.edu
Are you saying IP 192.168.0.2 is not group3.edu? |
Guys
I used nslookup command. So instead of the result come out like; server: group3.group3.edu address: 192.168.0.2 Name: group3.edu address:192.168.0.2 It is giving server: 192.168.0.2 address: 192.168.0.2#53 Name: group3.edu address:192.168.0.2 |
pls recheck your zone file i think you missed a "."
