Bootable media to deploy custom Linux installation
I trying to create a bootable media that request user inputs at first boot and then deploys Linux to the Hard drives and post script customized the OS environment. The Baremetal servers that I will be using to deploy to do not have connectivity to the outside world, DVD and USB Ports are available.
Here is what I do from a network installation perspective:
1)PXE/DHCP/NFS kicstart the baremetal....
2)Baremetal then uses my custom .ks file to non-interactvely install a lean RedHat OS.
3)During .KS post several scripts are ran which customized the environment (security, Users, Groups, File Systems (LVM), etc. )
I need to be able to do the same from above but from a bootable media containing all the necessary DATA.
Unfortunately, clonezilla won't work because each installation will be unique. During boot of the baremetal an interactive script is ran that request the end-user to enter values such as HOSTNAME/IP ADD/License for a custom APP/etc......
Create a tarball of your LFS system (assuming that you have posted in the correct forum) that will be deployed later. Use the Slitaz Scratchbook to set up a basic livesystem, add your custom installation script and the tarball.
You script should do these things:
- Partition the disk
- Deploy your LFS tarball to the disk
- Ask the user the questions you want to ask and change the appropriate configuration files on the installed system.
- Install a bootloader
- Reboot
