Boot time server removal?

On knoppix i need to remove everything from startup which is:

1. using the net in any way, even listening on ports.

2. unneccessary other stuff.

There are conflicting guides to how it's done and the services/mods are still starting up.

cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.19 (root@Knoppix) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061028 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-19)) #7 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 17 22:01:07 CET 2006
