Question Blank Page While Configuring Webcalendar

Hello to all,

I am in the process of installing Webcalendar 0.9.45 on a server running Debian 3.1, with MySQL in the back end. I copied the webcalendar files to a directory that can be seen by Apache, and have modified the permissions of the includes directory to be read/write by all users.

Two things happen when I attempt to run the web-based database setup script:
  1. Upon pointing my browser to http://fqsitename/, where fqsitename refers to the fully qualified site name, the browser goes to http://fqsitename/install/index.php.
  2. The http://fqsitename/install/index.php appears blank.

I read this thread from sf.net and it suggested to ensure the docs directory can be seen from the browser, and it is visible.

Any other suggestions?

Addendum to "Blank Page While Configuring Webcalendar"

This is an addendum to my question above.

While perusing the webcalendar directory that was copied to a location viewable by Apache, I was looking for the settings.php file and saw this:

svrname:/var/www/html/webcalendar# ls includes/settings.php -l
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 2006-09-15 12:26 includes/settings.php -> /etc/webcalendar/settings.php
svrname:/var/www/html/webcalendar#

I then went to the /etc/webcalendar directory, and there was no settings.php file, so I did a touch settings.php to create a dummy (blank) file. I went back to my browser to http://fqsitename/ and got the following message:

Warning: main(includes/): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/webcalendar/includes/init.php on line 60

Warning: main(): Failed opening 'includes/' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/html/webcalendar/includes/init.php on line 60

Error

dbi_connect(): db_type not defined.

Any thoughts, folks? HELP....
