Bind dns server


Hi!

On the bind dns is the any record: 0, 127, Root zone, 255, localhost.

Hvat they do?

Can i delete them?

Here is the question:

I installed webmin on debian and BIND DNS server were there, but in bind dns server was the none dns before i crated new dns.

The dns was 0, 127, 255, Root Zone and localhost.

Can i delete them?

Show the exact zone files, or exact statements you see on the screen in webmin, not partial statements.

I'm assuming 127 means really 127.0.0.0/8 and that is the loopback network, which you should not delete. And the 0 is 0.0.0.0/8 which you should not delete. I'm not sure what 255 is in webmin. The root zone (root hints) are required. As is the localhost A record.

Why do you feel you need to delete them? The better question to ask is "what are they for?", and "how does DNS work?"
