Bind DNS and Active Directory (Windows 2008)

I have 2 Bind DNS servers (Primary/Secondary). These Servers are serving about 2000 Windows workstations (Windows XPs and 7s) and are working great. We are purely Novell shop, though we have few Windows 2003 and 2008 Servers.

It has become necessary for us to run Active Directory. What I want is to not run DNS on any of the Windows Domain Controllers and let Bind handle all of the DNS stuff. Is this something that is achievable? Has anyone run into this scenario?

Please help.

Hi wirekof,

Welcome to LQ!!!

You can definitely let your Bind servers to handle DNS stuff. As long as your clients points to your Bind DNS servers it doesn't matter whether they authenticate to Active Directory or eDirectory.

Thank You.

Is there any documentation somewhere you could direct me to? Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks you.
