Best Server Operating System For Using Zimbra

What would be the best operating system to use to host a zimbra server?

Or is there any other MS exchange alternative, I did google linux exchange alternative but only find zimbra.

I need something that is open source which will run as a mail server with shared calenders that will work with MS Outlook on my win xp PC's

preferrably it needs to be something simple & easy to set up as i currently do not have a lot of time available to me

is any of that possible??

Any help and comments would be appreciated!

many thanks,
