Best linux flavor for webserver?


which is the best linux flavor for linux webserver,should be effective & comfort for maintenance

there is no such thing as best. If you want a responsible choice, CentOS / RHEL is the most common in enterprise..

Are you thinking about apceh2 web server?

Runs on most all distros.

I like Debian and Centos.

I'm just saying.............

Almost all webservers are running headless and are maintained using SSH to log into them. So the comfort for maintenance is mostly up to the text editor of your choice.

I've used both for a number of years (RedHat when a company wanted "paid for" support, and Centos when "Google" support was enough) and found them to be solid and reliable. My personal website does 1.6 million page displays a month and runs on Centos.

If this is expected to be a large website with lots of visitors, a server distro such as CentOS, might be the best choice.

Otherwise, any one of the mainstream Linux distros should work. I would favor Slackware, closely followed by Debian, because they are rock solid and don't break.

I self-hosted my own little site on Slackware for several years, before I moved to a place where 1) the ISP was actively hostile to self-hosting (as opposed to my previous ISP, who was passively hostile) and 2) the MySQL database outgrew the capabilities of my P4.
