Best distro for an easy-to-use server in a windows environment?

Hypothetical question:

Let's say I have to set up a quick-and-dirty network for a windows environment, including a file server and a print server, and the only computer I have available to do the job is an old-ish pc with no OS installed.

I tried doing this job with my Mac Mini, but getting the windows PCs to see the printer was very problematic.

The users on this quick-and-dirty network will be very basic end-users, so it's got to be as seamless (from their point-of-view) as possible.

Is there a distro that does this job well? The only distro I have a lot of experience with is DSL, and it seems to be very limited when it comes to included print drivers.

Any advice? Should I just avoid the headaches and install a used copy of Windows 2000?

In my opinion this has nothing to do with the server. Any and every distribution can be a file server, however the printing is a bigger issue.
If you have a good network-ready/linux-friendly printer then you will have very few problems (ie. CUPS compatible).

I would save your time and just use Windows2000 - the printing will work easier (with almost any cheap printer).

Slackware is a good choice.
