Well i faced one problem 2dy in morning while taking the backup of servers. sir, we are using the tape drives for taking the backups.when i tried to put the backup file inside the tape drive....after completing all the steps on tape drive menu...i got the first status " DEVICE IS OPENING" after waiting for 10 minutes it remains same. if we close that setup and try to run it again...the status changes to" DEVICE IS BUSY" if you restart the tapedrive again status changes to " DEVICE IS OPENING but again the data is not able to write on cartrage....please help if there is some SCSI problem or i have to replug the tape drive.

It's not clear what you are using or what you are doing.
Could you tell us what your computer is, what your tape drive is, what you OS is, and what software you are using for backup? Some detail would be helpful. Are you talking about a menu on the front panel of a tape device? Or are you talking about a menu in a software application?
If you can fill in that information, then someone might have some more specific questions that get closer to the real problem.
