Automatic "Server maintenance" reply e-mails?

Hello. I have an e-mail server that I need to take down for the weekend, and want to set up automatic "Server undergoing maintenance" e-mails. All e-mail is being filtered through our MX server, running CentOS 5.9, which will hold the e-mails until the server is back up.

Has anyone heard of a solution to send automatic replies to e-mails sent to this domain?

Nothing heard of, But what you are looking for is an Auto-responder software which when your server recieves the email sends a reply out, Why do you wanna send that, Don't you have a failover if Emails are that important?

You can add a notice on your site or tell your users to intimidate their senders via auto-responders before the maintenance.

A Server Notice of this kind will be unseen if the users are using mail clients.
And what determines "Automatic"? Please explain
