Atop monitoring?

Hello all,

Has anyone used "Atop" or "collectl" monitoring tool before. I have installed it and the logs are recorded under /var/log/atop and /var/log/collectl. Is it good for monitoring the CPU load related issues? I feel "atop" is good for the performance related issues.

Need your suggestions

Frankly, I've not heard of atop before. I think top and htop are much more common.

I found some pretty good reviews with a web search.

If indeed it logs its output, I can see that it might be quite useful, as neither top nor htop do so. It's in Debian repos and I just installed it to my Debian box. I'll take a look at its output tomorrow.

Update, the next day:

I took a quick look at atop this evening. If you run it from the command line, it looks a lot like htop, though it's arranged differently. The logs, though, seem to binary, so I'm going to have to read the man page a bit to learn how to read them.

I have installed it and its good for monitoring performance related issues as the logs are recorded and can be viewed later even when there are problems

Haven't used collectl in awhile, however http://collectl.sourceforge.net/Performance.html may assist you in your quest.
It is Very Comprehensive.
