apt-get --configure -a

I try to make apt-get update and as result system return me next:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
Is there a method to avoid this? because when I try to run dpk --configure -a the system start mysql-server-5.0 then try to stop it and here the process freez.

Seems like you have tried or some program on your system has tried to install the mysql-server version 5 and got interrupted. This has happened to me many times, and it has been solved by issuing the command you said you had tried. How long did you wait to see if the command took care of problems? I take it you are running a debian based system since you have "apt-get" in you posession. Try running synaptic or similar gui tools to correct the problems, run aptitude or similar. Synaptic might report inconsistency in the system and try to fix it.
