Apache2 problem

Hello ok i did have a fully working website running off my desktop pc on ubuntu (dapper). Then the other day I had to format it (don't ask why), its now running on ubuntu edgy.

The problem I have is I can't seem to get apache2 running correctly. It loads my website fine with no errors but it doesnt seem to load the default root html of my website (index.html) it trys to download the index.html instead when i browse it in firefox. If i add index.html to the end of the url it loads fine so im not sure what is wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated

many thanks
regards Chris

Did you make sure that in the httpd.conf file that index.html is listed in the DirectoryIndex directive?
