Well, I thought I had it licked, but the php scripts I'm trying to install have much more complicated rewrite rules, the install script works, that sets up the database and the default settings, but after install completion, the index.php script tries to open on default port 80, but the server is on 11080, the scripts I'm trying to install is the Dolphin CMS system, I can't contact Dolphin support as it's a premium toll number, at $0.80c a minute?, yeah right!!!!.
What I want to do is create a social networking site, I've looked into practically all the others, and Dolphin has what I'm looking for, but because of all the .htaccess files spread across the Dolphin folder hierarchy, each containing very complex rewrite rules, using url redirect at dns level, those rules throw everything out of whack, the rules seem to only work if using default server port 80.
At least now, I have rewrite working for simple rules.

Hi,
I've never used dolphin, but I guess you need to specify a hostname like: host.dyndns:11080 when you're trying to install your application.
Or let your server listen on port 80 and forward port 11080 from your router to port 80 of your box
Regards

It looks like my router doesn't have the ability to redirect ports, the only way to go would be to set the server in the router DMZ and use the server firewall to redirect external port 11080 to internal port 80
ADDENDUM:-
Well, well, well, I guess I can't run a server on any port, I just performed a test,,,, I removed the router, and directly connected my workstation to the cable modem via ethernet, then disabled my workstation (Linux) firewall, then used a port scan from grc.com, I was completely amazed at the results, every port from 0 to 65535 is blocked on incoming, showing fully stealthed, thus meaning my ISP has blocked incoming on all ports from 0 to 65535, I guess my ISP have a saying "I got what you want, if you want it, then pay an arm and a leg for it".
Changing ISP is not an option, the only ISP I can change to is Earthlink Dialup, it seems to run a server just for community networking, I'll have to pay 100s of dollars for a business account I don't need.
Thanks for everyones help,,, my ISP holds the belief that every American living in this hell hole, is mega rich and can just pay and pay and keep paying, it doesn't matter what a company asks for, just keep paying it. No wonder it's called the "Land of bad credit", and NOT "the land of the free".

There are other options, just do some searching for a web host and you can likely find someplace to host a site for very little a month. One place I have experience with is RamHost, they have been very good and affordable. If you really do want to get into hosting a public site then you will need to pay up at least a little bit. If you just want something to play with and learn there is no real reason to require external access, just put it up inside your firewall and access by IP or host entries.
