Apache2 + LDAP Based user dirs

Dear all,
I face a very strange problem in my Apache web server. The setup I have is:
Apache2.0.x web server + mod_userdir_ldap
LDAP Users database

No local user directories, only NFS
No local user authentication

The problem I have is the following:
For some users, the resolution of the home directory is extremely slow. And I mean that it does timeout after a very, very long time. Moreover, the log files does NOT contain the request, neither the access logs nor the error log.

I suspect that the problem is on mod_userdir_ldap, but I found very little information on that module. Has anyone used that module? If so, do you face similar problems?

Thank you.
