apache virtual hosts

Hi! First I have to apologise, I am new to Apache, and need help to correct my own mistakes. I had problems connecting to the main site on my server, and changed things so that all requests went to that main site. I did it using a tutorial, I can't remember what I did, and now whatever address I try to use, I end up at the same site, even on different server IP's.
Is anyone prepared to help someone as stupid as me, and point me in the right direction so that I can use virtual hosts?
I'm using apache 2 and ubuntu on a virtual private server

on the virtual host itself in the apache configuration, did you change the listen address from say ip (replace with your own IP) to This sounds like the most likely situtation to me. Change it back to listen IP:listen PORT if you did.
