Apache stops after logout
 
Starting this week, every time I log out of my Red Hat Enterprise 5.3 box, Apache wants to stop working. It's been driving me nuts because I can't figure out why it would just stop whenever I log out of the server.

I went through chkconfig and httpd is set to run on levels 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Any other ideas?

Are you logging in remotely using ssh? Try keeping the session opened via screen command and close the the session (with out logging out of course).

Are you starting it manually? If so, its attached to your terminal session. Try

nohup service httpd start &

Hi again,

Sorry for the delayed response, but I forgot to mention that I'm using the Desktop version of RHEL 5.3 (not by my choice, stuck with what was already paid for) using the GNOME GUI. Hopefully that answers your questions, Chris and Alpha.
