apache--IP publically accessible; now what?

Hi. I'm running Apache on CentOS 5.5. I'm a newbie. Now that I can access my document root via my machine's IP address, how do I proceed from here? Do I need to statically set the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway on Linux?

I don't understand your question. What is your goal here?

Do I just point my registered domain name to this IP address? And in order to host more than one website, do I just proceed to set up virtual hosts?

Yes.

You do NOT need a static IP to host a Web site, though it can make things a little simpler.

If you have a dynamic IP, which it sounds like you do, you might find a service like Dyndns to be of value to you. It will automatically update your public DNS records whenever your IP address changes. The TTL value on your records is deliberately kept low, so updates take effect within minutes.
