"/" & "/opt" extension to 2nd disks

Is it advisable to extend "/" and "/opt" to 2nd disk on Redhat VM on VMware ?

what disk they're on doesn't matter. If it's just another block device, then the 2nd will be as accessible as the first. It sounds pretty ugly though. Is this an LVM based setup? Can't really see how else you'd extend on to it otherwise.

Thanks, yes it is an LVM.

you can force LVM to keep a volume on a specific device if you really want to, but there's seldom any need outside of potential IO issues.

Thanks.

I have planned to lvconvert - mirror/unmirror /opt to move it to new disk, and then extend "/" on the first disk.
