Amavis and Unsolicited Bulk Email

I wonder if anyone could help. I have postfix and amavis installed. Has worked fine.

Recently if I have been getting Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE) errors when using mobile phones to send. The ip in postfix is allowed to relay but I suspect that the mobile provider is using DHCP to issue address to the phone (though I have check the ip addresses are always allocated the same)

I have checked via a fixed ip that is allowed in the relay and this does not generate the same error.

Does anyone know what I can change in Amavis or Postfix to sort this out, because legal mail is being rejected via the mobile phones at the moment.

Many thanks

The error you are receiving might help us help you.

"UBE Error" is not helpful at all.

You may also want to include your postfix and amavis config files (properly masking sensitive information like IP addresses).

You should also provide any information in the logs, and if you receive a bounce message a copy of that would be helpful as well.

Then we may be able to help you.

My apologies and thanks for your time.
I turned on higher level of logging in amavis. There was an entry in there:

Mar 22 13:31:31 SERVERNAME amavis[2243]: _WARN: auto-whitelist: open of auto-whitelist file failed: locker: safe_lock: cannot create tmp lockfile /var/amavis/.spamassassin/auto-whitelist.lock.SERVERNAME.2243 for /var/amavis/.spamassassin/auto-whitelist.lock: Permission denied

For some reason the ownership on the .spamassassin directory had changed. I changed the ownership and all is fine now.
