Have you checked the excellent documentation at https://www.nagios.org/documentation/ ?
It's one of the most popular subjects on the internet. Try a Search...

I see seven separate products there so "I am using nagios to monitor my environment" doesn't say much.
Please don't cause us to assume.

If you still have issues, please let us know what you've read, what you've tried and
What product exactly?

Hi DNG, try looking into the default templates available at /usr/local/nagios/etc/objects. Here you can copy and paste the service you want to add.

Ok thanks for your suggestions. This is the exact situtation i find my self in:
So my unit uses nagios to monitor about 200 servers in the environment. We have a new server for a service we just launched.
How can i add this new server to the nagios monitoring . Also our nagios is automated by puppet. I dont know if changes should be made in the puppet configurations as well after adding the service to the nagios monitoring.

Hope to hear from you soon.
