I seem to recall this coming up when I took my MCSE classes. I seem to recall Server 2003 can be put into an X.500 LDAP compatibility mode. Then when you authorize the Linux LDAP server as a DC in Server 2003, it will populate the new server with the compatible active directory data from the primary. Once the Linux servers LDAP has been synchronized, you can turn off the Windows server DC. I realize this is an simplistic explanation, but hopefully it will give you enough to search for what you need.
