Access remote server
Hello,
I'm setting up a server for a medical facility which will be acting as an records fileserver for their LAN. The server will be in a different location than myself and will be based on CentOS. To provide support, I need complete access to this server remotely. What's the best way to go about. I would consider the likes of Teamviewer, but what if there comes a time when there's a problem at OS level or maybe at boot level. |
Hi,
you need to be able to ssh to the box, and you should also look into something like IPMI. I had to look up what teamviewer is. Are you even planning on running X on the fileserver? What exactly is your sysadmin experience? Evo2. |
Wouldn't IPMI be more for temperature and the likes? I need remote access more from after the time the machine boots up (after BIOS).
Nope, there's no X. |
ILO or DRAC card (or whatever your server supplier's equivilent is) in your server or KVM over IP is the best way to ensure you have full visibility of a server.
