about linux mail command. (can not get undelivered message)


"mail -s test root@baddomain.net < /tmp/test.in" (/tmp/test.in is a text file which has mail contents)

It is a bad address, but I can not get undeliverd message


please help solving,

did you checked /var/mail/mail.log. ?? what is says?? may be delivered??

sorry for can not find this file. (and the other machine, which works well, is also no this file).

I am trying another machines (which can work well) to analyze this issue.

after reinstall OS with choosing everything, it is OK (can work well).

but I truly do not know, why it is.

and now, I can continue for my main work, and left this issue for us to discus.

welcome any member to giving suggestions (I have another machine, which also can repeat this issue).

The logfile you should look for, is /var/log/maillog (or /var/log/mail.log depending on distro)

ok, yes it is.

after analyzing, I fixed: it need use IP address through DHCP. If hard code IP address, it can not.
