Apparently you can make a virus directly attack hardware (cpu in this case). If so, does that mean the virus could attack you, regardless of your OS?

/ knows very little about virus, viri, wtf the plural form is
// how would you remove something like this
/// slashy ! ! !

Apparently so, though the code for the worm each OS would be different. For example the worm for Windows would likely not affect Linux and vice-versa.

Of course a virus can attack regardless what OS is used. This virus infects Windows executables, Linux executables are not writable by user and cannot be infected this way. Unless you do something stupid like working as root.
