Win2000 account from Linux

We have a network of Linux and Win2000 machines. Windows is managing the accounts.

Since Windows has to talk to Linux to authenticate an account, is it possible to work backwards and make a Windows account from Linux?

I know this is vague and I'm sorry. I don't really know what to post since I'm a networking newbie. If you need more info, just ask away.

Looking for everyone's 2 cents.

Well, I'm assuming you in a domain run by a Win2k server?
If thats the case you could get rid of the Win2k server and use Samba 3 to administrate the domain. I think in the long-run it would be harder tho, I've played with Samba domains for a little bit and documentation can be sketchy at best. Espcially with win2k domains and Active Directory.
