vsftpd question

Need help with a vsftpd / permissions issue on Redhat 7.3 box.

We use this box as a storage for backups.

We need to connect using FTP from our main box, upload the files and rotate the older copies.

We created a specific user just so we could have an ftp account with proper login and password solely for this purpose.

The directory we are using for uploads has 777 permissions, and the owner/group is the same as the FTP login user.

Whilst we can upload fine, and the files are created with 644 permissions, under the correct owner/group, we CANNOT delete ???

The vsftpd conf files and user files are just a simple list of "denied" users ... there's no additional config for allow read, allow write etc ...

What am I missing here ????

Thanks in advance

Dave

the vsftpd.conf file shud absolutely allow you to set it up so that any files put on the machine will be owned by particular users with whatever permissions you specify. Look again at it. If it isnt in yours, try looking at the documentation in /usr/share/doc directory. There will prob be examples in vsftpd's folder

I use proftpd, but I do remember vsftp had quite a few of the same options
