I just intalled a vsftp2.0.4 in redhat enterprise ws3
following is the error:

I enter the right root passwords, but just can't login.

It's usually a bad idea to allow root login. It's better to login as normal user.

If you insist, you can try to add the following in the vsftpd.conf fileand add root as the user in the vsftpd.user_list
