Post VSFTP File Permissions

I have the set up an FTP server and it works fine, but I would like to restrict access to one of the directories to local users only.
So currently I have the following that I want anonymous users to access
/var/ftp/pub/dirA
/var/ftp/pub/dirB
/var/ftp/pub/dirC
and the following that I only want local users to access.
/var/ftp/pub/restrict.

I have created a group and change group ownership of the directory (/var/ftp/pub/restrict)
to that group. But I still can't list the contents of that directory when logged in as a local user.
Any ideas
