VPN and AIX issue
Trying to ftp files from a windows system(xp) to an AIX 4.x box through bordermanager VPN. They freeze, then AIX considers them there, with 0 file size but as running processes. I have to kill the process before I can delete them. Is this a known problem to anyone? Not being able to ftp through vpn to an AIX box like this?

could also be a firewall issue, some dont handle ftp well if not configured properly.

Ok eliminated that possibility. There is no firewall between those is what I was told by our network Admin. Any other ideas?
Thanks =)

hmmm border VPN but no firewall....seems odd......I have never run into that problem but I have seen misconfigured FTP rulesets. Lemme ask one of the guys here.

ok only thing that comes to mind is FTP passive mode. Why I said firewalls and I now hear some VPN's have to explicitly state passive mode for FTP. What happens when you ftp is the originating port is 21 but when you start to transfer it opens a port in the higher ranges.

I will pass this on to the network guys and see what happens. Thank you so much for your help =)
