/usr/lib/libkdeui.la is not a valid libtool archive

Hi ,

I have been trying to compile Guard Dog 2.2.0 firewall software on my Fedora which has the latest KDE 3.2. desktop installed. I log in as the root extract the .tar.gz file and then move the folder to /usr/lib/guarddog-2.2.0

./compile works fine

However when i do ./make install prefix=/usr i get an error message that reads this

"/usr/lib/libkdeui.la is not a valid libtool archive"

Can some one please tell me what this means and how do i rectify this ??

Regards ,
Pradhip.S

What tarball?
Did you compile the source properly in some temp dir?
Aren't there any rpm's available?
What's the full errorlog (post a link would be better)?

Hello ,

Well i kind of worked around my problem. My whole issue started with the installation of the KDE 3.2 latest desktop package. I did a couple of rpm -force on the packages which in the process went up and buggered by KDEUI library. So i simply went ahead and uninstalled KDE and reinstalled the version that comes with Fedora and then eveything is fine.

Anyhows. Thanks for the reply unSpawn
