When trying to gftp to another system on my network I get this message:

Trying maxlinux.copacabana.br:21
Connected to maxlinux:21
220 maxlinux FTP server (Version 5.60) ready.
USER pnkerton

530 Must perform authentication before identifying USER.
Disconnecting from site maxlinux.

How do I "perform authentication" ?

This is all the information I have.

530 Must perform authentication before identifying USER.
Identified as Kerberos. Check if you've got an account and use kinit to authenticate, ask the administrator for one if you haven't got an account or ask if other means of transfer (scp/sftp?) are available.
