USB thumb drive security question/idea

Hi all!

I was wondering if there is some soft that will give me something like USL https://sourceforge.net/projects/usl/ does? If a USB device has been cleared (by putting some sort of code on it) it can be mounted automatically, but if it doesn't have that ID code it will need password to mount? And even further than that: maintain a list of ALL USB devices that have been connected before and the ports they connected to. And keep a list of USB devices plugged in that DIDN'T get cleared? This would make maintaining security and tracing the evildoers sooo much easier...

A company could issue USB disks that have been cleared for use, keep track of where they were plugged in and when, etc etc

If this software doesn't exist, maybe it should be written.
Also: If I forgot any functions, feel free to add them

T.I.A.

*edit: Some windows are better left unopened, most notably Microsoft Windows™... I only work *nix, also use user agent spoofer

what you want is definitely possible in linux - in fact i remember seeing a thread about it recently - but i doubt a software exists; you'd have to write a couple of scripts.
have a look at this search...
