Smile ubuntu security

Have just started new PC with only Linux on it, had a bad attack on previous PC with dual window and linux OS installed and now this PC is dead. Used to scan attachments in emails with AVG, before opening them. Now I wonder whether linux also has this kind of security and which should I install, firewall or/and others ?
Apreciate your advice,
miramarcos

Linux is pretty good. Specifically there are privacy concerns with Ubuntu, they included some automatic reporting to Amazon.com and maybe other sights when you performed searches. What I recommend is that you perform a web search for "ubuntu privacy concerns" and see this information.

As far as Linux goes, I have yet to see an actual virus, or adware/malware problem. I do install script and ad blockers to my browser; however even without using those, the results are at worst a situation where you may end up with a web site that proliferates traffic like crazy, but once you shutdown, close your browser, or make sure no instances of it are running again, and then don't revisit that site, there are no lasting problems.

Something coming up these days, probably always been the focus of IT based persons, would be file sharing. For instance if you have files which are openly available if someone could get to your system via Samba, NFS, ssh, sftp, rlogin, or other methods (me not being an expert here), then they could obtain your files. I would guess that again performing a web search on "how to protect your Linux system" might be helpful. I just did exactly that and it found a few hits I believe I'll now be perusing and seeing if they'd be helpful for me.

Take a look at this. Linux overall is pretty safe as a standard install but you should always keep up to date with the latest security and privacy issues.
