I am trying to educate myself a little on network and internet security. I recently came across Trinux. My question is if I use the distro at work on the network, will it cause problems or raise red flags with the network or the network administrator. I wont be using trinux or any of the applications available for devious purposes. I just do not have much time at home and need to utilize my time at work. I liked to learn as much as I can (hands on) while I can. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

As Trinux loads to memory and doesn't install on your hard drive it wont change your workstation. However your network administrator might get suspicious to your activity. Start to wonder why you are port scanning etc. Check with your administrator to see that it's clear.

I agree with Ugge,

For example if you ran this on one of my networked systems, my intrusion detection system would notice the system going into promiscuous mode and notify me, thus causing me to come around with a baseball bat. 8-)

Also don't forget once you start sniffing or scanning a HUBed network, the network will start to crawl.
