Lightbulb timeout=00 and single node problem

Hello all,

One of the security options is set timeout=00 to don't wait user input. From the other side, additional security option for lilo.conf is restricted/password lines for boot image. Theoretically, it need to work without any problems, but now, I CAN'T Ctrl-X for single node!!!!! So, if I want (I don't know anyone, which don't) to use single user node, I can't set timeout=00?????

I don't understand what you're asking. You want to know how to not have a time out but still be able to choose single user mode yeah?

AFAIK you can't. You'll need to specify atleast a short timeout or you'll never have an opportunity to pass parameters to the kernel. So long as you set a password on the image its not a really security problem. I've never understood why more distro's don't adopt a similar approach to slackware, even in single user mode you still need to login, instead of just dropping you directly into a shell.

cheers

Jamie...
