Exclamation SSL Vendor Recomendations

I would like to hear from others, about which company/vender/authorizer YOU like, or have heard good things about for getting an SSL.

I am not interested in those 'package' deals where you get all this extra useless fluff on top of the single signed cert files.

So, let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts.

Two companies I have on my list:

verisign.com (they appear to not sell JUST a cert, but massive packages of useless crap)

geotrust.com (they sell single certs, but are not wildly usable on many browser versions)

I use Thawte, which unfortunately has been bought by Verisign. Too bad, because I really like and trust Thawte.

After looking at thawtes page, and actually finding helpful information, and after contacting their sales with a couple questions with fast responses, we have decided to go with them.

Only problem now... I am generating the keys and signed requests, however openssl genrsa is STILL PROCESSING !!! Its been 55 minutes... how long does this take???

Angry Bleah

The hang was due to the /dev/urandom... wanst returning.

Anyhow...

I dont think I WILL go with thawte!! Want to know why??? When I go to THEIR https:// server, my browser doesn't even know what they are trying to send me! Cripes, and I use a really recent IE.

Screw them. If I get dialog errors of "untrust" to their own homepage using their own certificates... I am NOT going to have to explain to every client, every customer, and every visitor to any site we have a SSL certificate with thawte, that "it really is ok... trust them".

yeah right... =P I dont think so

maybe their encryption is higher than you ie browser supports.

I set mine up for high encryption one time and discovered this also, so I guess they don't want you in there with a crummy 128 bit encryption browser.
