I have been asked to backup the and physically secure the private key for a verisign SSL certificate we purchased for an Linux based VPN applicance. I'm at a loss as to even where to begin. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I guess you use apache as web server since you don't mention anything about it. Take a look at apache .conf file (usually named httpd.conf) and search for the lines starting with: "SSLCertificateFile" and "SSLCertificateKeyFile". They will show you the directories where you key and your certificate are installed. Copy those two files in a safe location to backup them.
