sshd: Deprecated option ReverseMappingCheck

I keep getting the following messages in /var/log/auth.log from sshd (distro Mandrake 10.1):

Jan 5 16:49:18 lbox sshd[1783]: rexec line 105: Deprecated option ReverseMappingCheck

Does anyone know how to stop this? Thanks in advance. My sshd_config follows:

# $OpenBSD: sshd_config,v 1.69 2004/05/23 23:59:53 dtucker Exp $

# This is the sshd server system-wide configuration file. See
# sshd_config(5) for more information.

# This sshd was compiled with PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

# The strategy used for options in the default sshd_config shipped with
# OpenSSH is to specify options with their default value where
# possible, but leave them commented. Uncommented options change a
# default value.

Line 105 is:
105 ReverseMappingCheck no

Did you try commenting it out (adding a # at the begining of the line)? From the error message it seems like that option is no longer being supported.

kalahari875 01-06-2005 06:04 PM

Well, that would make sense. I have done so. Do you know if there is a correct option for sshd to use in place of this deprecated option?

Capt_Caveman 01-06-2005 08:10 PM

I believe it's become:

useDNS

with an argument of yes or no.
