ssh keygen working?
Hi all,

I have just started up with ssh-keygen for the first time but I am not able to understand how it generates the key pair. I mean what all is needed by it to produce that key-pair.
I understand how it works afterwards.

I don't see what part you don't understand. You run the program with no arguments and it will prompt you to override the default locations, so the file locations should be very apparent. Only thing you are likely to want to do is use a dsa2 key instead of rsa, but that's just fine tuning.

yeah thats definitely Ok, but I want to enquire about the algorithm or the method which ssh-keygen program uses to generate the keys whether rsa or dsa.

I mean it is specific to every other system so what all ssh-keygen uses to produce the key..[COLOR="Silver"]

it will produice an rsa, dsa or dsa2 key based on the ratified algorithms for each.
