ssh - Did not receive identification string


box 'paradise' ssh OK to all other boxes except 'boadband'

error: server "Did not receive identification string . . ."
and client hangs

all software latest version per yum

tried regenerating system hostfile
and user hostfile

do not know what to try next - any suggestions?

stop sshd on the server
then run /usr/sbin/sshd -d
try to connect with the client and see if there are more informative errors on the server output
