some problem about the default firewall in the linux

hello:
i use the federo core 3, i want to know that is the firewall strong enough to prevend attack and virus from the internet.

how can a firewall stop a virus that you asked to be downloaded

it cannot scan files that you have requested to be downlaoded to the system

it control access to ports that you have configured
